Lagord is a western commune with 7048 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the arrondissement of La Rochelle and the canton of Lagord . The residents call themselves Lagordaise or Lagordais .
geography
The municipality is located in the metropolitan area north of La Rochelle . Neighboring communities are:
- Nieul-sur-Mer in the north,
- Puilboreau in the east,
- La Rochelle to the south and
- L'Houmeau to the west.
Transport links
The departmental road D104 (later D105), which leads north from La Rochelle, crosses the municipality. The motorway-like route N237 runs along the southern municipal boundary and leads to the bridge that crosses the strait to the island of Île de Ré . La Rochelle - Île de Ré airport is just outside the southwestern municipal boundary .
