Courçon is a French commune with 1,740 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017), in the department of Charente-Maritime and in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ) is located. It belongs to the arrondissement of La Rochelle and the canton of Marans (until 2015: canton of Courçon ). The inhabitants are called Courçonnais .

geography

Courçon is located about 28 kilometers east-northeast of La Rochelle . Courçon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Cyr-du-Doret in the north and west, La Ronde in the north and north-east, La Grève-sur-Mignon in the east, Benon in the south and Ferrières in the south-west.
