It belongs to the arrondissement of La Rochelle and the canton of Marans (until 2015: canton of Courçon ). The inhabitants are called Gué-d'Allériens .

Le Gué-d'Alleré is about 20 kilometers east-northeast of La Rochelle . Le Gué-d'Alleré is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Sauveur-d'Aunis in the north and north-west, Benon in the east and north-east, Bouhet in the south and Anais in the west and south-west.
