Loix is a French commune with 729 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) on the Île de Ré and is known for its salt marshes, which are laid out to the left and right of the main road. The Ecomusée Marais Salants is located in the middle of the salt marshes and provides information about the history of salt production on the island.

In the port of Loix there is an old tide mill (out of order), in which flour was ground with the help of ebb and flow . The mill itself is inaccessible to the public. There is a hiking trail around the reservoir behind the weir.
