The inhabitants are called Liversois .

Saint-Jean-de-Liversay is about 24 kilometers northeast of La Rochelle . The Sèvre Niortaise limits the municipality to the north. Saint-Jean-de-Liversay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of L'Île-d'Elle in the north and north-west, Vix in the north and north-east, Taugon in the north-east, Saint-Cyr-du-Doret in the east, Ferrières in the south-east, Saint- Sauveur-d'Aunis in the south, Nuaille-d'Aunis in the southwest and Marans in the west.
