La Jarne is a French commune with 2,490 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the arrondissement of La Rochelle , the canton of La Jarrie and is a member of the commune association La Rochelle Agglomération . The inhabitants are called Jarnais (es) .
geography
La Jarne is about five kilometers southeast of La Rochelle in the historic Aunis landscape . La Jarne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Rogatien in the north, Clavette in the north-east, La Jarrie in the east, Salles-sur-Mer in the south and south-east, Angoulins in the west and south-west and Aytré in the west and north-west.
