geography

Puilboreau is northeast of La Rochelle. Puilboreau is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Xandre in the north, Dompierre-sur-Mer in the east, Périgny in the south and south-east, La Rochelle in the south and south-west, Lagord in the west and Nieul-sur-Mer in the north-west.

The municipal area is crossed by the Route nationale 11 (RN11) and the 237 .
