Schleswig-Holstein State League 1950/51

The Schleswig-Holstein regional league was played for the fourth time in the 1950/51 season and formed the substructure of the first-class Oberliga Nord until the 1962/63 season. The last time the top division of Schleswig-Holstein played with only twelve teams; the master was allowed to participate in the promotion round to the first-class Oberliga Nord, the teams in the last two places had to relegate to the district league.

Season course

The championship and thus participation in the promotion round secured last year's relegated VfB Lübeck, who suffered only two defeats. After being relegated to the upper league, the club had been accepted back into the regional league, although it was only due to the relegation of Itzehoer SV from the upper league in 1951 on a SHFV association day on June 30, 1951 in Bad Schwartau that it was clearly determined that the upper league was relegated to the regional league to be reclassified and not have to start over in the district class. The ambitious teams from Heide and vom Phönix from Lübeck ended up well behind VfB at the end of the season, which, however, missed the promotion to the league. In the relegation race it was clear early on that Husum 18 would take last place. The penultimate place was played between the East Holstein teams from Eutin and Neustadt and Gut-Heil Neumünster.

Since the league was to be increased to 16 teams for the new season, Neumünster and Husum did not descend directly, but were allowed to participate in relegation games with the teams that had failed in the promotion round to the state league. There, however, neither of the two teams could prevail.

The Heider SV represented the Schleswig-Holstein Football Association in the German Amateur Championship in 1951 , where he in the quarterfinals against Bremen in 1860 was eliminated.

    Due to the increase in the regional league to 16 teams, the two actual relegated teams from the regional league and the four third division champions who failed in the promotion round received a second chance to qualify for the regional league. Two climbers were identified in two groups of three. The first of each group rose, the second played from 16th place in the national league.
