The women's 100-meter run at the 1962 European Athletics Championships was held on September 12 and 13, 1962 in Belgrade's Partizan Stadium .
The British Olympic runner-up from 1960 Dorothy Hyman became European champion . She won over 200 meters Jutta Heine before the German Olympic championship in 1960 . Bronze went to Teresa Ciepły from Poland .

Record improvements
Vice European Champion Jutta Heine improved the existing championship record twice:
- 11.5 s - 2nd lead, September 12th
- 11.4s - 1st semifinals, September 13th
The 11.3 seconds achieved in the final by the European Champion Dorothy Hyman and the Vice European Champion Jutta Heine could not be recognized as a record because the tailwind was too strong.
