The Liangshan Autonomous District of the Yi ( 涼山 彝族 自治州 , Liángshān Yízú zìzhìzhōu ; Yi: ꆃꎭ, in official transcription: niep sha , in IPA : [nɛ 21 ʂa 33 ]) is located in the southwest of the Chinese province of Sichuan . Liangshan has an area of ​​60,423 km² and approx. 4.7 million inhabitants (2016). Its capital is Xichang (西昌 市).

The autonomous district is made up of a district-free city, 15 districts and an autonomous district:

  • Jinyang County (金 阳县), capital: Tiandiba Municipality (天地 坝镇), 1587 km², 140,000 inhabitants (2002);
  • Zhaojue County (昭觉 县), capital: Xincheng Township (新 城镇), 2699 km², 210,000 inhabitants (2002);
  • Xide district (喜 德 县), capital: Guangming Municipality (光明 镇), 2206 km², 140,000 inhabitants (2002);
  • Circle Mianning (冕宁县), capital: greater community Chengxiang (城厢镇), 4423 square kilometers, 320,000 inhabitants (2002);
  • Circle Yuexi (越西县), capital: greater community Yuecheng (越城镇), 2,257 km², 250,000 inhabitants (2002);
  • Ganluo district (甘洛 县), capital: Xinshiba municipality (新市 坝镇), 2156 km², 180,000 inhabitants (2002);
  • Meigu county (美 姑 县), capital: Bapu municipality (巴普 镇), 2573 km², 180,000 inhabitants (2002);
  • Leibo District (Wensu 雷波 县), capital: Jincheng Municipality (锦 城镇), 2932 km², 230,000 inhabitants (2002);
  • Muli Autonomous District of the Tibetans (木 里 藏族 自治县), main town: Qiaowa Municipality (乔瓦 镇), 13,252 km², 130,000 inhabitants (2002).
