List of members of the Vorarlberg state parliament (XXII legislative period)
This list of the members of the Vorarlberg state parliament (XXII. Legislative period) lists all members of the Vorarlberg state parliament during the XXII. Legislative period. The state parliament officiated in the XXII. Legislative period from November 4, 1974 until the deputies of the XIII. Legislative period on November 6, 1979.
After the state elections in 1974 , the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) had 22 members of the 36 members. 10 MPs were from the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ), 4 from the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ). Thanks to the heavy losses suffered by the FPÖ compared to the state elections in 1969 , the ÖVP now had two more and the SPÖ one more MPs than in the previous period, while the FPÖ's club strength was almost halved after losing three seats.
Functions
Landtag President
According to the state constitution, the right to the position of the state parliament president fell, unless the state parliament groups agreed otherwise, to the party with the strongest vote and thus to the ÖVP. In the first session of the state parliament on November 4, 1974, Martin Purtscher was elected as the new state parliament president. In the written election, 36 votes were cast, 35 of which were valid. Purtscher received 25 votes, and the previous 2nd Vice President Friedrich Heinzle received 10 votes. The election of the vice-presidents of the state parliament took place on the same day in accordance with the state assembly, including the president according to the principles of proportional representation, whereby the ÖVP had the right to propose the office of 1st vice-president and the SPÖ the right to propose the office of 2nd vice-president. As a result, Friedrich Heinzle (ÖVP) was elected 1st Vice President of the State Parliament with 35 out of 35 valid votes, Elmar Steurer (SPÖ) received 34 out of 34 valid votes when he was elected 2nd Vice President of the State Parliament.
After Steurer left the state parliament on November 21, 1976, Hermann Stecher succeeded him on December 15, 1976 as the second vice-president of the state parliament.
Club chairmen
As in the previous period, Ignaz Battlogg continued to work as chairman of the ÖVP state parliament club. The deputy Willi Aberer took over the function of the deputy . In the SPÖ, Ernst Winder held the office of chairman of the state parliament, while Hermann Stecher acted as his deputy . In the FPÖ, Alfred Eß was the club chairman.
