The 4th legislative period of the citizens of Bremen ran from 1955 to 1959. It was initiated by the election of October 9, 1955.

The turnout was 84.0%.

Note: In August 1956 the KPD was banned. The four mandates of the KPD were canceled by a decision of the State Court of Bremen on January 5, 1957. The four MPs Dietrich, Gautier, Krüger and Meyer-Buer, however, remained in the municipal citizenship as an independent group.
