Luková (German Lukau , also Lucke , Grobnwälza and 1304 Lucow ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located twelve kilometers southeast of Česká Třebová and belongs to the Okres Ústí nad Orlicí .

geography

Luková is located in the Lanškrounská kotlina ( Landskron basin ) in the foothills of the Eagle Mountains. The village extends at the foot of the Červený pahorek ( Lukauer Rothhübel , 388 m) along the Lukovký potok ( Johannisbach ) above its confluence with the Moravská Sázava and forms a closed settlement area with Damníkov . To the northeast of the village runs the railway line from Česká Třebová and Zábřeh , on which the Luková u Rudoltic railway station is located on the northern outskirts .

Neighboring towns are Lanškroun in the north, Žichlínek in the east, Rychnov na Moravě in the south-east, Květná in the south, Trpík and Anenská Studánka in the south-west, Damníkov in the west and Rudoltice in the north-west.

history

Lukow was first mentioned in a document in 1304 in a document from Wenceslas II when the Landskron rulership was donated to the Königsaal monastery . In 1349 the Lukow parish belonging to the Litomyšl diocese was first mentioned. In the course of an exchange deal, Lukow came to the bishop of Leitomischl in 1358 together with the lords of Landskron and Landsberg , while the monastery was given more favorably located areas around Prague . From 1461 the village belonged to the Augustinian monastery in Landskron . After the outbreak of the Hussite Wars , the Augustinians fled to Olomouc in 1421 and after the extinction of the Litomysl bishopric, Georg von Podiebrad sold the episcopal and monastic goods to the Prague burgrave Zdeněk Kostka von Postupitz . Adam Herzan von Harras later became the owner of the village. Until 1622, Lukow was the seat of a manorial farm, which included a sheep farm. After the Battle of the White Mountain , Harrasschen received goods from Karl von Liechtenstein . He connected the Lukow farm to the property in Ziegenfus. In the course of the re-catholicization, the parish in Lukow went out in 1677 and became a branch church of Landskron.

In 1784, Emperor Joseph II elevated the Church of St. Margarethen to a parish church. The school location was Thomigsdorf until the school was set up in 1870 .

In 1993 the new railway station Luková u Rudoltic was inaugurated. Until then, the next train stop was in Rudoltice.

Local division

The municipality Luková consists of the districts Květná ( goat foot ) and Luková ( Lukau ).

Population development

The community was since the 13./14. Century until 1945/46 predominantly inhabited by German Moravians . The German-speaking population was expropriated and expelled after the Second World War on the basis of the Beneš decrees . As a result of the World War and the displacement , the population of the village fell from 1,065 inhabitants (1930) to 664 in 1950. In 2014 Luková had 735 permanent residents. The number of inhabitants in the 21st century is therefore below the average population between 1869 and 1930.
