The MAZ-103 ( Russian МАЗ-103 , German transcription actually MAS-103) is a bus model from the Belarusian vehicle manufacturer Minski Avtomobilny Sawod , which has been in series production since 1996. From 1996 to 2006 the similar, but cheaper MAZ-104 was also offered.

vehicle description

MAZ-103 newer year of construction with revised front in Nizhny Novgorod (2009)
MAZ-103 in Minsk , Belarus (2014)
MAZ-103 in Constanța (2006)

The MAZ-103 has been manufactured since 1996 as the successor to the then poorly selling MAZ-101 and replaced it completely within a short time. Outwardly, both models are very similar, but technically the vehicles have been modernized. As usual at MAZ, vehicles for export are made with components from Western European production. Engines from Daimler-Benz and Deutz are available. Transmissions are also bought in from manufacturers such as Voith or ZF . For the Russian market, however, there were also vehicles with technology from Russian manufacturers.

The MAZ-103 is a typical city bus for local transport. A high number of standing places (around 70 to 80, depending on the seating) and a small number of seats (around 25) make this clear. The vehicle sold much better than its predecessor. This and the fact that it has now been produced for 22 years explain its relatively wide distribution. Newer versions can mainly be recognized by the redesigned front.

In addition to the version as a two-axle solo bus, an articulated bus is manufactured under the name MAZ-105 and a three-axle solo bus as the MAZ-107 . A trolleybus version also exists under the name MAZ-103T .
