The MAZ-203 ( Russian МАЗ-203 , German transcription actually MAS-203) is a bus model from the Belarusian vehicle manufacturer Minski Avtomobilny Sawod , which has been in series production since 2006.
description
The MAZ-203 was first presented to the public in 2005 and has been in series production since 2006. A second generation of the vehicle has been available since 2009, including a redesigned driver's cab. This model is a low-floor bus that has been exported to various countries. The MAZ-203 can be found in the local public transport of some cities in Eastern Europe, such as Russia or Serbia . In Serbia, the model is sold under the name BIK-203, which is based on a joint venture with a Serbian vehicle manufacturer in Kragujevac . It is worth mentioning in this context that the Serbian vehicles are buses with natural gas drive.
Foreign components were also used in the production of the bus. For example, engines from Daimler-Benz or Deutz are installed in the export versions . The transmission also comes from Voith or ZF . The vehicle won several awards at international commercial vehicle shows in Russia. It also complies with the international regulations for passenger vehicles set by the UN for Europe.
The first major customer was the Russian city of Kazan , which took over 50 MAZ-203 buses in 2007.
A trolleybus version of the vehicle is produced under the name MAZ-203T . In addition, a shorter version of the vehicle as a midibus has been built since 2006 with the MAZ-206 .
