The MAZ-5432 truck ( Russian МАЗ-5432 , German transcription actually MAS-5432) is a type of truck from the Belarusian vehicle manufacturer Minski Avtomobilny Zavod , which was produced in series from 1981 to 2008. A version of the truck designed for forest work and equipped with all-wheel drive is still being built today under the name MAZ-5434 .

In the late 1970s, the manufacturer MAZ decided to start production of a family of trucks based on the western model. On the one hand, to cover the civilian demand for heavy tractor units, on the other hand, to create an alternative to the technically outdated MAZ-5429 (tractor based on the MAZ-5335 ). The first MAZ-5432 rolled off the production line on May 19, 1981, and production of the three-axis MAZ-6422 variant , which is still being built today (as of end of 2017), started at the same time .

The new generation vehicles quickly became MAZ's most important product. The thousandth copy was made in April 1983, and the 1 millionth on April 14, 1989. It was not until the mid-1990s that successors were developed for the MAZ-5432 and MAZ-6422 models, as the old vehicles no longer met the legal requirements for international long-distance traffic, especially with Western Europe. The MAZ-5440 was designed and produced as the successor to the MAZ-5432 in 1997 , and production of the MAZ-5432 was discontinued in 2008.

In many versions, imported components were also used, such as B. engines from MAN or transmissions from ZF .

The GDR imported the MAZ-5432 from the mid-1980s, as did the heavier version MAZ-6422.

In the course of almost 30 years of production, the MAZ-5432 tractor was manufactured in many different versions. Outwardly, these differ only very slightly, but fundamentally in important points such as the engine or the installed gearbox.
