Maria Epple-Beck , née Maria Epple , called "Marile" , (born March 11, 1959 in Seeg , Bavaria ) is a former German ski racer . Her older sister Irene was also successful in the Ski World Cup.

biography

She celebrated her greatest success at the beginning of her career when she became world champion in giant slalom in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 1978 . For this she was awarded the silver bay leaf . In the same year she was voted German Sportswoman of the Year . In the Ski World Cup , in which Maria Epple first appeared in the points with 9th place in the slalom in Aprica on December 11, 1975, she achieved numerous places on the podium (for the first time with 2nd place on December 8, 1977 in the giant slalom in Val-d'Isère ) and five World Cup victories, a second and fourth place in the overall World Cup and three German championship titles in slalom and giant slalom. As part of the World Series of Skiing , which is only part of the Nations Cup , she won the San Sicario Slalom on November 25, 1984. Already on March 28, 1982 she had won a parallel slalom (final victory against Lea Sölkner ) at the season finale in Montgenèvre, which was also only part of the Nations Cup .

She is married to the four-time German slalom champion Florian Beck , with whom she has two children. Today, the trained beautician Maria Epple-Beck runs a house with a 4-star holiday apartment and cosmetic studio in Gunzesried and is involved in event organization.
