Mark Forster (* 11. January 1983 in Kaiserslautern as Mark Cwiertnia ) is a German singer and songwriter .

Career

Mark Forster grew up as the son of a Polish mother and a German father with his younger sister, to whom he dedicated the song Natalie in 2016 , in Winnweiler , Palatinate . His mother called him Marek. In his early days, he performed as a musician under this first name and with his civil surname. After graduating from the Wilhelm-Erb-Gymnasium Winnweiler he started in Mainz first law to study what he gave up after four semesters and study towards business administration changed; He successfully completed his business studies. He later tried to establish himself as a pianist , singer and songwriter and wrote music and jingles for television , among other things . Among them was the theme song from Krömer - Die Internationale Show . He was then engaged by Kurt Krömer and accompanied him from 2007 to 2010 in the role of a Polish pianist as a sidekick at his performances in Germany. In 2009 he was the front man of the band Balboa in Berlin. He played the African musician Mitumba Lumbumba in Krömers program Kröm De La Kröm. In 2010 he was signed to the music label Four Music . The songs on his album Karton were recorded with producer Ralf Christian Mayer and co-producer Sebastian Böhnisch in Germany, France and Spain. In January and February 2012, Mark Forster could be seen in the opening act of Laith Al-Deen's tour .

Forster's first single On the Way was released on May 18, 2012. His debut album Karton was released on June 1, 2012. Zu dir (far away) was released on October 19, 2012 as the second single from the album .

He sings the refrain on the single, one of these stones by rapper Sido , which was released on November 15, 2013 . This was the first time he was in the top ten in Germany and Switzerland. Sido reciprocated by participating in Au revoir , the first single from Forster's second album, Bauch und Kopf . The song came to number 2 in the German charts and achieved three gold records in Germany and platinum status in Switzerland. The album debuted at number 18 on the charts.

Together with Tony Mono (Peter Saurbier), Forster sang a cover version of his song Au revoir , Au revoir, USA , for 1 Live for the 2014 World Cup . For the final of the World Cup with German participation, he brought out another special version, Au revoir (World Cup version). The chorus is Au revoir, Maracanã  - alluding to the location of the final between Germany and Argentina. On December 12, 2014, the second single, Flash mich, was released from the album Bauch und Kopf .

At the beginning of 2015 Forster acted as godfather to the singer-songwriter Victoria Conrady when she participated in Dein Song . Together they won the competition with the play Maniac . He has been a juror in the Sat.1 casting show The Voice Kids since the third season in 2015. Forster's third single, Bauch und Kopf, followed on August 21, 2015 . With this single he represented his state of Rhineland-Palatinate a week later at the Bundesvision Song Contest 2015 , in which he took first place. At the end of 2015 he worked with the DJ Felix Jaehn under the project name Eff and released the single voice .

As a pre-single for Forsters' third studio album Tape , which was released in June 2016 , the song We are big was released on April 1st . It was also the ZDF EM song for broadcasts from the European Football Championship in France. In autumn 2016 his song Chöre was released , which was used in the soundtrack to the German comedy Willkommen bei den Hartmanns . The song also reached the German Top 10 by voice and Wir sind Groß , so that Mark Forster was the most successful German-speaking musician in the German charts in 2016. He voiced the Troll Branch in the animated film Trolls .

From 2017 he sings the German-language title song for " Ducktales ". On April 21, 2017, Sowieso was the third single and on September 22, 2017 Kogong, the fourth single from Tape . The latter was part of TAPE (Kogong Version) , an expanded version of his third studio album. Forster took part in the fourth season of the television program Sing my Song - The Exchange Concert , which was broadcast from May 2017 and in which he also sang the Christmas carol Lulajże, Jezuniu in Polish . In autumn 2017 he replaced Andreas Bourani as coach at The Voice of Germany .

From February to April 2018 Forster was again a coach at The Voice Kids . On April 13, 2018, a new single, Like a Lion, was released, which cannot be found on any album. He was supported with the single by his sing-my-song colleague Gentleman . The song premiered during the 2018 Echo Awards . Forster took on the role of host in the fifth season of Sing mein Song - Das Tauschkonzert , which was broadcast from April 2018.

On October 5th, 2018 Forster released the first single from his fourth studio album Liebe, which was released on November 16, 2018, with once .

From March 25, 2020, Forster had his own show Live from Forster Straße on Wednesdays at VOX , but it was discontinued after two episodes. On May 1, 2020, he released the song The Day After Tomorrow .

Forster is partly able to speak Polish and is a fan of 1. FC Kaiserslautern .

Mark Forster has been an ambassador for Herzenssache e. V. , the children's aid campaign by SWR, SR and Sparda-Bank.

Forster's trademark is his over 200 baseball caps , without which he does not appear in public. In a 2017 interview with the youth radio station Dasding , he justified this with the onset of hair loss .
