Naby Keïta won the championship and the cup twice with FC Red Bull Salzburg. He was also voted player of the 2015/16 season.

Naby Laye Keïta (born February 10, 1995 in Conakry ) is a Guinean football player who is used in midfield . He has been under contract with Liverpool FC in the Premier League since 2018 .

Career

Keïta came from his hometown club Horoya AC to France in the youth of FC Istres . In 2013 he was promoted to the club's first team and completed his first season as a professional footballer, in which he was involved in eleven goals in 23 games. In the summer of 2014 he moved to Austria for FC Red Bull Salzburg and signed a contract that ran until June 2019.

In his first season in Austria, Keïta prevailed as a regular player, scoring five goals and preparing two more goals in 30 games. At the end of the season he was champion and cup winner. At international level, he reached the round of 32 of the UEFA Europa League , in which the club was eliminated by Villarreal .

He was able to confirm his achievements in the 2015/16 season, but had to take a break for several weeks at the beginning of 2016 due to malaria. At the beginning of March, his contract term was extended to June 2021. At the end of the season, Keïta was voted Player of the Year for the 2015/16 season by the coaches and officials of the Bundesliga.

On June 20, 2016 Keïta moved to the German Bundesliga club RB Leipzig , with whom he signed a contract that ran until June 2020. In his Bundesliga debut on September 10, 2016 (2nd match day), he scored the 1-0 winning goal in the 89th minute in the home game against Borussia Dortmund .

In August 2017, Keïta signed a contract with Liverpool FC that began in the 2018/19 season . The midfielder won the Champions League with the club in spring 2019 and the FIFA Club World Cup in December .

National team

Keïta has been a member of the Guinean national team since 2014 . He and his team reached the quarter-finals of the 2015 African Cup , in which they were eliminated by Ghana .
