Colmnitz is a district of the municipality of Klingenberg ( district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains ) in Saxony . The seven-kilometer-long Waldhufendorf has 1,410 (December 31, 2014) inhabitants and is located with the Klingenberg-Colmnitz station on the main Dresden – Werdau line .

The place was in the years 1348 / 49 to the Lehnsbüchern the Margrave of Meissen , Frederick III. , first mentioned under the name Colbenitz . In the following centuries the place name appeared in different forms (1483: Colmenicz ). In 1551 Colmnitz had 70 possessed men, 52 gardeners and 50 residents .

In 1552 the property in Colmnitz belongs to the Dippoldiswalde manor . Around 1606 a manor was mentioned in Niedercolmnitz and Obercolmnitz. Around 1630 , during the Thirty Years' War , Colmnitz lost more than half of its inhabitants to the plague . In 1764 a manor Colmnitz is mentioned. There were three mills in Colmnitz, on the Niedermühle in Niedercolmnitz the owner, Georg Schiffel, was named as Erbmüller in 1586, Gottfried Süßen until 1745, Daniel Baumgart from 1745, Gottfried Baumgart in 1785 and Gottfried Baumgart the Younger in 1787.

In the 18th century the village was divided into the independent rural communities of Niedercolmnitz and Obercolmnitz, but was reunited before 1900 to form the rural community of Colmnitz. On August 1, 1994 Colmnitz became part of the new Weißeritz district . In 2016, Colmnitz became the subject of supraregional reporting, because at the "School and Home Festival" on May 29 for the 850th church anniversary a. a. Attractions

Located on the edge of the Tharandt forest , Colmnitz is a popular starting point for hikes and bike tours, for example to the geographical center of Saxony or to the Lips-Tullian rock.
