Colmnitz is a district of the municipality of Klingenberg ( district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains ) in Saxony . The seven-kilometer-long Waldhufendorf has 1,410 (December 31, 2014) inhabitants and is located with the Klingenberg-Colmnitz station on the main Dresden – Werdau line .

The place was in the years 1348 / 49 to the Lehnsbüchern the Margrave of Meissen , Frederick III. , first mentioned under the name Colbenitz . In the following centuries the place name appeared in different forms (1483: Colmenicz ). In 1551 Colmnitz had 70 possessed men, 52 gardeners and 50 residents .

In 1552 the property in Colmnitz belongs to the Dippoldiswalde manor . Around 1606 a manor was mentioned in Niedercolmnitz and Obercolmnitz. Around 1630 , during the Thirty Years' War , Colmnitz lost more than half of its inhabitants to the plague . In 1764 a manor Colmnitz is mentioned.
