Italy took part in the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles with a delegation of 112 male athletes in 61 competitions in 13 competitions.

The Italian athletes each won twelve gold, silver and bronze medals, placing Italy in second place in the medal table. Olympic champions were the athlete Luigi Beccali over 1500 meters, the marksman Renzo Morigi with the rapid-fire pistol, the wrestler Giovanni Gozzi in the Greco-Roman style featherweight, the fencers Giancarlo Cornaggia-Medici in the epee singles and Gustavo Marzi in the foil singles, the cyclists Attilio Pavesi in road racing, Giuseppe Olmo , Attilio Pavesi and Guglielmo Segato in the team competition of the road race and Nino Borsari , Marco Cimatti , Alberto Ghilardi and Paolo Pedretti in the web-side tracking and, finally, the Turner Romeo Neri in the individual all-around and on the parallel bars, Savino Guglielmetti on Horse jump and Oreste Capuzzo , Savino Guglielmetti, Mario Lertora , Romeo Neri and Franco Tognini in the team all-around competition. The most successful athlete was the fencer Giulio Gaudini , who secured four medals, but not a gold one: he won bronze in individual foil and silver in individual epee, with the epee team and also with the foil team.

The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the athlete Ugo Frigerio , who won the bronze medal in the 50 km walk.
