The men's light flyweight boxing competition (up to 49 kg) at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held from July 31 to August 12, 2012 in the Exhibition Center London . 26 boxers took part.

The competition was carried out in a knockout system . It started with the 1st round, which included 32 starting places. Since only 26 boxers qualified, six athletes byes were drawn. The winners made it to the round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals competed for the gold medal, both losers received the bronze medal.

Zhou Shiming is the first light flyweight boxer to defend his Olympic title.
The two finalists were by far the oldest participants in the field at 31 (Shiming) and 32 years (Pongprayoon).
