Pagani is a municipality with 35,404 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Italian province of Salerno , Campania region .

The municipality covers an area of ​​12 km².

The neighboring municipalities are: Nocera Inferiore , San Marzano sul Sarno , San Valentino Torio , Sant'Egidio del Monte Albino and Tramonti .

A town partnership has existed with Vaglia since 2003.

The city is known for its festival in honor of the Madonna del Carmine , which always takes place on the first Sunday after Easter. Many tourists from all over Italy come to the celebrations to pray to the saint.

Pagani is also a pilgrimage destination for worshipers of St. Alphonsus of Liguori , the founder of the Redemptorists , who lived here from 1775 until his death in 1787 and whose relics are kept in the Basilica of Sant'Alfonso .
