Pestrezy ( Russian Пестрецы́ ; Tatar Питрәч , Piträç ) is a village (selo) in the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia with 8,102 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The place is a good 30 km as the crow flies east of the center of the republic capital Kazan on the right bank of the Myosha river , which flows into the Kuibyshev reservoir about 40 km south , not far from the original confluence of the Kama with the Volga .

Pestrezy is the administrative center of Pestretschinski Rajons and the seat of the Pestretschinskoje selskoje posselenije rural community , which also includes the villages of Schichazda (6 km northwest) and Ulanowo (2 km west) and the settlement (possjolok) Kosi Pochinok (8 km northwest).

history

The place has been known since the 16th century, but remained insignificant for a long time. It belonged to the Ujesd Kazan and was with this from 1708 part of the Kazan Governorate (from 1781 to 1796 Kazan governor). Until after 1913 it was part of a Wolost within the Ujesds with its seat in the seven kilometers southwest of the village of Kulajewo , although by the end of the 19th century it exceeded the number of inhabitants several times.

In 1920 Pestrezy came to the canton Arsk of the newly formed Tatar ASSR and was the largest town in the area itself as the seat of a Volost. With the abolition of the cantonal structure, the place became the administrative center of a Rajon named after him on August 10, 1930.
