Bawly ( Russian Бавлы́ ; Tatar Баулы Bawlı ) is a city in the Republic of Tatarstan ( Russia ) with 22,109 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located on the Bugulma-Belebeier heights in the extreme southeast of the republic, about 370 km southeast of the republic capital Kazan on the river Bawly (also Bawlinka ) of the same name , which flows into the Ik , a left tributary of the Kama .
Bawly is administratively directly subordinate to the republic and at the same time the administrative center of the Rajon of the same name .
The nearest railway station is Jutasa, 40 km away on the Ulyanovsk - Tschischmy (- Ufa ) line. The M5 Moscow - Samara - Chelyabinsk road , which is crossed here by the Kazan - Orenburg road, runs through the city .
history
A place in the area of today's city was created in the 17th or 18th century (various information between 1626 and 1755); Bawly received urban-type settlement status in 1950 and town charter on September 17, 1997.
There is a city partnership with Kütahya in Turkey .

The main industry is oil and gas production through Tatneft ( Bawlyneft area ). The city is the center of an agricultural area.
