ProB 2007/08
The 2007/08 season is the first season of the German ProB basketball division . The ProB is the second season of the hierarchically structured 2nd basketball league . The regular season began on September 29, 2007 and ended on April 19, 2008.
mode
16 teams took part in the league. The top two teams acquired the sporting right to participate in the Pro A . The four worst teams were relegated to the regional leagues, which were divided into four divisions (north, south-west, south-east, west).
qualification
Since the league was restructured, there was a qualification mode for the athletic entitlement rights, which included the three previous seasons. Points were awarded for the final placements. The 2004/2005 season counted once, the 2005/2006 season doubled and the 2007/2008 season counted four times.
conditions
The participating teams had to:
- play in a hall that has 150 seats (2008/2009: 300 seats).
- Have 6 players in their squad who are German citizens.
A maximum of 18 players per season and team could be used. At least nine of them had to be German citizens. Of the maximum of twelve players that could be used per game, at least six had to be German. There were double licenses for players in the U24 age group with the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) and for U22 players from the regional leagues (and below). These players were not among the 18 maximum players that could be used, but they were part of the national quota (provided they were German).
Season Notes
- The German Basketball Federation (DBB) sued the reorganization of the 2nd Bundesliga before the start of the season, because the regional leagues (whose game operations are organized by the DBB) were demoted as a result.
- Before the start of the season, an application was made to expand the Pro B to 18 teams, but this was rejected.
