Puechredon ( Occitan : Puègredond ) is a place and a municipality with 40 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the southern French department of Gard .
location
Puechredon is located in the northwest of the Gard department about 35 km (driving distance) northwest of the city of Nîmes in the southern foothills of the Cevennes at an altitude of about 100 m above sea level. d. M. The climate is temperate; Rain falls throughout the year.

The continuous decline in the number of inhabitants since the middle of the 19th century is essentially due to the mechanization of agriculture and the associated loss of jobs. In addition, almost all mountain regions in France depopulated in favor of the cities in the valleys.

history
The first mention of the place name comes from a document of Pope Hadrian IV from 1156; Another document from 1217 mentions that the place belongs to the Cistercian abbey of Mazan . The place and castle were affected during the Huguenot (1562–1598) and Camisard Wars (1702–1704).
Attractions
- The small chapel, built from only slightly hewn stone , stands on the outskirts near the vineyards.
- The former castle was largely destroyed during the Camisard Wars.
