In 1793 Causse-Bégon was still inhabited by 67 people. This number grew significantly in the early 19th century and reached its historical high of 117 inhabitants, which were recorded in 1831. At the beginning of the following century, however, only around 50 people lived in the community and after the Second World War the population even fell to 20 residents. After a temporary recovery, the number of residents fell significantly at the beginning of the 21st century and was given as nine residents for 2012. This makes Causse-Bégon the least populous municipality in the Gard department, even though, according to the mayor, it actually had 16 permanent residents at the beginning of 2015.
