Saumane ( Occitan : Saumana ) is a town in the south of France and a municipality with 276 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gard department in the Occitanie region . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Le Vigan and the canton of Le Vigan . The inhabitants are called Saumanois .

location

Saumane is about 25 kilometers west of Alès . The Prat Peyrot ski area is also located in the municipality . Saumane is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-André-de-Valborgne in the north and north-west, Moissac-Vallée-Française in the north and north-east, L'Estréchure in the south and east and Les Plantiers in the west and south-west.
