Dourbies is a French commune with 145 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gard department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the community association Communauté de communes Causses Aigoual Cévennes .

geography

Dourbies is located five kilometers southeast of Trèves and six kilometers southwest of Saint-Sauveur-Camprieu in the westernmost part of the Gard department in the densely wooded Cevennes National Park south of the Forêt Domaniale du Causse Noir (state forest of the black limestone plateau) and west of the Forêt Domaniale de L'aigual im Dourbie Valley . The Trèvezel , a tributary of the Dourbie, also flows in the municipality. The hamlet of Roucabie belongs to Dourbies.

The image of the community is characterized by pastures, forests and chestnut groves. Important industries of the Dourbiens are the quarrying of quartz in Roucabie, forestry , agriculture and the breeding of domestic sheep .

Culture and sights

The Fontaine des trois ermites ( Fountain of the Three Hermits ) was built in 1990. It refers to a legend. Because of this legend, it is custom in the surrounding municipalities to make a pilgrimage at Pentecost to the Rocher de Saint-Guiral , a rock that belongs to the municipality of Aumessas .

The Church of Notre Dame de l'Assomption ( Assumption of Mary ) was built from 1883 to 1887.

Lake Lac des Pises is part of the Cevennes Nature Park.

The Gorges de la Dourbie are rocky gorges of the Dourbie. The Dourbie rises on Mont Aigoual and runs along the Causse Noir and the Causse du Larzac . The gorges are between 380 and 850 meters high.
