geography

Saint-Maur is a banlieue to the west of Châteauroux . Saint-Maur is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Vineuil in the north, Déols in the northeast, Châteauroux in the east, Le Poinçonnet in the southeast, Velles in the south, Luant in the southwest and Niherne and Villedieu-sur-Indre in the west and northwest.

The A20 autoroute runs through the municipality .

history

Until the reorganization of the cantons, Saint-Maur belonged to the canton of Châteauroux-Ouest . After its dissolution, the municipality was assigned to the canton of Buzançais . On January 1, 2016, the neighboring municipality of Villers-les-Ormes to the north was incorporated.
