Stefan van Dijk (* 22. January 1976 in Honselersdijk ) is a former Dutch professional - cyclist .

Athletic career

Van Dijk was considered a strong sprint driver. One of his greatest successes was winning the Dutch championships in 2002. In the UCI Europe Tour 2005 , he finished second overall behind Murilo Fischer .

In October 2005, van Dijk was banned for one year because he escaped a doping control in July . Because of another doping offense, he was banned as a repeat offender for eight years at the end of 2013. He admitted that he had undergone unauthorized ozone treatment from autologous blood ten times in the 2011 season. He chose this treatment in order to recover from mononucleosis and thus be able to return to cycling earlier.

At the end of the 2013 season he ended his cycling career.
