The voiced alveolar fricative (a voiced on the alveoli educated fricative ) has the following in different languages phonetic and orthographic realizations:
- German [ z ] : regional s in initial position in front of vowel between two vowels, between [ l ] , [ m ] , [ n ] , [ ŋ ] , [ r ] and vowel and before [ l ] , [ m ] , [ n ] , [ r ] , if there is a related There is a word form in which a Schwa is spoken before these consonants .

English [ for ] : z , x in the initial sound, sometimes s after vowels.
- Examples: la z y [ ˈleɪzi ], z oom [ zuːm ], x ylophone [ ˈzaɪləfoʊn ], ea s e [ iːz ]
- French [ for ] : z and s between two vowels.
