The voiceless uvular fricative (an unvoiced , the uvula educated fricative ) has the following in different languages phonetic and orthographic realizations:

• Arabic [⁠ χ ⁠] : خ ( chā' )
• German [⁠ χ ⁠] : ch by a, o, u (except in the diminutive - suffix -chen and when the u part of the diphthongs eu or externa is). Allophone of the voiceless palatal fricative and the voiceless velar fricative .
• Hebrew [⁠ χ ⁠] : ח (H)
