Super Sport (Chevrolet)
Super Sport , or SS , has been an equipment package from Chevrolet for many of their vehicle lines since 1961. Some of the more popular SS models are Camaro , Chevelle , El Camino , Impala and Nova . What began as a visual upgrade of the Impala in 1961 became a general sports package in 1966.
In 1994 the Impala SS was reintroduced, until then the package was only available for two-door cars. Since then, however, the SS package has been available for almost all vehicles of the brand.
Both then and now, the Super Sport package includes sport tires, stronger suspension and increased engine performance, as well as numerous other performance and visual upgrades. Many SS models have SS lettering on the grill.
The Chevrolet SS Sports Sedan model has also been available since 2013 .
