The Chevrolet Trailblazer is a mid-range SUV from the US car manufacturer General Motors , the first generation of which was only offered by the Chevrolet brand on the North American market.
The TrailBlazer was introduced in 1999 as a better-equipped variant of the Blazer . From 2002 there was an independent variant based on a new platform . Until 2004 the blazer was offered in parallel, the production of which was then discontinued.

The TrailBlazer, which was launched in spring 2001, was offered with rear-wheel drive and, optionally, with all-wheel drive . From spring 2002 the EXT was available with an extended wheelbase and seven seats. It was powered by an in-line six-cylinder engine with a displacement of 4.2 l and a maximum output of 201 kW (273 hp) or a 5.3-liter V8 engine with a maximum output of 225 kW (306 hp). From 2005 an SS ( Super Sport ) model was also available with a 6.0-liter V8 engine with a maximum output of 298 kW (400 hp) and 536 Nm maximum torque, which went from 0 to 60 mph (96 km / h) accelerates in 5.8 seconds. The public premiere took place at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) in 2005. In autumn 2005, the TrailBlazer was upgraded with an external facelift . Production in Moraine was discontinued at the end of 2008 and the EXT in Oklahoma in 2006. Due to overproduction, the model was still available for a while afterwards.
From 2008 to 2012, only the Chevrolet Traverse with a self-supporting body was available in roughly the same size in the USA . Only in Russia was the TrailBlazer still being built and produced there by Avtotor in Kaliningrad .
In Germany, the Trailblazer was available from August 2001 to July 2006 with a 4.2-liter in-line six-cylinder gasoline engine. This has a maximum output of 201 kW (273 hp) and a maximum torque of 373 Nm at 3500 rpm. A total of 950 Trailblazers were newly registered in the Federal Republic of Germany during this period.

In 2011, the second generation of the Trailblazer was presented as a concept vehicle at the Dubai International Motor Show , it has been built in Thailand (since 2012), where the formal world premiere of the production vehicle also took place at the Bangkok International Motor Show 2012, and Brazil and is being used in various emerging markets offered. It is based on the GMT31XX platform . The vehicle is available with two diesel engines, 2.5 and 2.8 liters from the Duramax series, or a 3.6 liter gasoline engine, the latter, however, is only intended for the Brazilian, South African and Saudi Arabian markets. The 3.6-liter V6 engine has a maximum output of 177 kW (240 PS), and the one that has been available on the Brazilian market since 2015 has a maximum of 207 kW (280 PS) with a maximum torque of 360 Nm.
The weaker of the two diesel engines has a displacement of 2.5 liters and initially had a maximum output of 110 kW (150 hp) with a maximum torque of 350 Newton meters. Since 2015 it has developed a maximum of 120 kW (163 hp) and has a maximum torque of 380 Nm. The 2.8-liter diesel engine was initially available with a maximum output of 132 kW (180 PS) and a maximum torque of 470 Newton meters, in 2015 the maximum output was increased to 144 kW (196 PS) and the maximum torque to 500 Nm . Both diesel engines are combined with a five-speed manual transmission or a six- speed automatic transmission . The electronic all-wheel drive system (Autotrac 4x4 system) of the Chevrolet Trailblazer can be activated at the push of a button.
The new Trailblazer is also marketed in Australia under the name Holden Colorado 7 (until 2016) or Holden Trailblazer (since 2016) and in other markets as the Isuzu Mu-X . Other markets are South Africa, Saudi Arabia and some Southeast Asian countries.

Like the smaller Chevrolet Tracker , the compact SUV made its debut at the Shanghai Motor Show in April 2019. Compared to the second generation, which will continue to be produced, the new Trailblazer is smaller. Like the Buick Encore GX launched in July 2019, it is based on the VSS-F platform from General Motors.
The Trailblazer has been on sale in China since September 2019, and will also be available in North America from the beginning of 2020.

Like the Buick Encore GX, the vehicle is powered by a 1.3-liter gasoline engine with 121 kW (165 hp). All-wheel drive is available at an additional cost.
