Swobodny ( Russian Свободный , German  Friedlacken and Brandlauken , 1938-1945 Brandfelde ) is a place in the Russian Oblast of Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Polessk in Polessky District . The Brandlauken / Brandfelde branch has been abandoned.

Geographical location

Swobodny is three kilometers west of the city of Polessk (Labiau) on a side road that leads from Turgenewo (Groß Legitten) via Druschnoje (Rüdlauken , 1938-1946 Rothöfen) to Saliwino (Labagienen , 1938-1946 Haffwinkel) on the Curonian Lagoon . The nearest train station is the Polessk city railway station on the Kaliningrad – Sovetsk railway line (Königsberg – Tilsit) .

history

Brandlauken / Brandfelde

The later manor , which was founded before 1498 and then called Branthlawckenn, was until 1945 a residential area integrated into the municipality or city of Labiau (today in Russian: Polessk). On June 3, 1938 (with official confirmation of 16 July 1938), the place in "fire field" was renamed .

Friedlacken

Friedlacken was a Köllmian box that existed at least as early as the 17th century. As a rural community, the place was added to the Legitten district in 1874 and incorporated into Groß Legitten in 1928.

Svobodny

After northern East Prussia came to the Soviet Union as a result of the war, the two places Friedlacken and Brandlauken were combined under the Russian name Swobodny in 1950. At the same time Svobodny was classified in the village soviet Mordovsky, later the village soviet Tjuleninski , in Polessk district. From 2008 to 2016 the place, which now only covers the Friedlacken branch, belonged to the rural municipality of Turgenewskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Polessk.
