Kamenka ( Russian Каменка , German Steinau ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Polessk in Polessky District .
Geographical location
Kamenka is located three kilometers south of the Curonian Lagoon and ten kilometers west of the city of Polessk (Labiau) and can be reached via a cul-de-sac, which branches off from the municipal road 27K-106 from Slavyanskoje (Pronitten) via Nikitowka (Lablacken) to Uschakowka (Kampkenhöfen) . The nearest train station is Slavyanskoje on the Kaliningrad – Sovetsk line (Koenigsberg – Tilsit) .
history
The place once called Steinau was originally a Vorwerk for Gut Lablacken (today Russian: Nikitowka). It was not until October 16, 1909 that the independent estate district Steinau was formed from the Vorwerk, which was incorporated into the already existing district of Lablacken. This was part of the Labiau district in the Königsberg administrative district of the Prussian province of East Prussia . The population of Steinau was 66 in 1910.
Steinau lost its independence again on September 30, 1928 when the manor village merged with the manor districts of Annenhof (now Russian: Rybkino) and Lablacken to form the new rural community Lablacken.
In 1945 Steinau came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia . In 1947 the place was given the Russian name Kamenka, roughly the literal translation, and was assigned to the village soviet Slawjanski selski Sowet in Polessk Raion at the same time . From 2008 to 2016 Kamenka belonged to the rural municipality Turgenewskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Polessk.
church
Before 1945 the population of Steinau was predominantly Protestant . The village belonged to the parish of the church Groß Legitten (today Russian: Turgenewo) in the parish of Labiau in the church province of East Prussia of the church of the Old Prussian Union . The ecclesiastical relationship between Kamenka and the Turgenewo Church has existed again today, since a new Evangelical Lutheran congregation was formed in Turgenewo in the 1990s. It is a subsidiary of the Church of the Resurrection in Kaliningrad (Königsberg) in the Kaliningrad provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia .
