Jelnikowo ( Russian Ельниково , German Neu Kirschnabeck , 1938–1945 Kleinhirschdorf , Lithuanian Kiršnabėkis ) is a place in the Russian Oblast of Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Polessk in Polessky District .
Geographical location
Jelnikowo is 14 kilometers southeast of the city of Polessk (Labiau) on the municipal road 27K-350, which branches off the regional road 27A-145 (ex R514 ) and leads to Novaya Derewnja (Alt Gertlauken) not far from Fevralskoje (Groß Kirschnakeim / Kirschkeim) . The nearest train station is Bogatowo (Szargillen / Eichenrode) on the Kaliningrad – Sowetsk (Königsberg – Tilsit) railway line .

The establishment of the place Neu Kirschnabeck took place in the year 1830. 44 years later the time lease colony Neu Kirschnabeck was incorporated together with Neu Gertlauken (Russian: Geroiskoje, now to Nowaja Derewnja) as part of the manor district Gertlauken (forest) in the administrative district Gertlauken , which belongs to the district Labiau in the administrative district of Königsberg belonged to the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1905 there were 101 residents registered in Neu Kirschnabeck.
On December 12, 1922, the New Kirschnabeck pension in the Gertlauken (forest) estate was reclassified to the rural community of Leiszen (1936–1938: Leischen, 1938–1945: Hirschdorf, Russian: Novodworki, today to Fewralskoje ). As a place to live in Leiszen resp. Hirschdorf, the place renamed "Kleinhirschdorf" came to the Soviet Union in 1945 as a result of the war .
In 1947 Neu Kirschnabeck / Kleinhirschdorf received the Russian name "Jelnikowo" and was assigned to the village soviet Sosnowski selski Sowet in the Polessk district at the same time . From 2008 to 2016 Jelnikowo belonged to the rural municipality of Saranskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Polessk.

The almost exclusively Protestant population of Neu Kirschnabeck resp. Kleinhirschdorfs was parish into the parish of the church Laukischken (today Russian: Saranskoje) until 1945 . That belonged to the church district Labiau within the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Today Jelnikowo is in the catchment area of the Evangelical Lutheran congregation in Lomonossowka (Permauern , 1938-1946 Walls) , a subsidiary of the Resurrection Church in Kaliningrad (Königsberg) in the Kaliningrad provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia .
