Jelnikowo ( Russian Ельниково , German  Neu Kirschnabeck , 1938–1945 Kleinhirschdorf , Lithuanian Kiršnabėkis ) is a place in the Russian Oblast of Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Polessk in Polessky District .

Geographical location

Jelnikowo is 14 kilometers southeast of the city of Polessk (Labiau) on the municipal road 27K-350, which branches off the regional road 27A-145 (ex R514 ) and leads to Novaya Derewnja (Alt Gertlauken) not far from Fevralskoje (Groß Kirschnakeim / Kirschkeim) . The nearest train station is Bogatowo (Szargillen / Eichenrode) on the Kaliningrad – Sowetsk (Königsberg – Tilsit) railway line .

The establishment of the place Neu Kirschnabeck took place in the year 1830. 44 years later the time lease colony Neu Kirschnabeck was incorporated together with Neu Gertlauken (Russian: Geroiskoje, now to Nowaja Derewnja) as part of the manor district Gertlauken (forest) in the administrative district Gertlauken , which belongs to the district Labiau in the administrative district of Königsberg belonged to the Prussian province of East Prussia .
