Tolstowo ( Russian Толстово , German  Löbegallen , 1938-1945 Löbenau , lithuanian Liepgalis ) is a place in the Russian Kaliningrad region and belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Krasnoznamensk in Krasnoznamensky District .

Geographical location

Tolstowo is located on the south bank of the Inster (today Russian: Instrutsch) on a side road (27K-105) that connects the Rajon town of Krasnosnamensk (Lasdehnen / Haselberg) via Belkino (Groß Wersmeningken / Langenfelde) with Uslowoje (Rautenberg) . It is 19 kilometers to the former district town of Pillkallen (1938 to 1945 Schloßberg , in Russian Dobrowolsk) and 9 kilometers to Krasnosnamensk. A rail link does not exist.

history

The village, once called Löbegallen , was a royal domain office in 1785 . In 1874 the place was Amtsdorf and thus gave its name to an administrative district , which - from 1939 onwards was renamed "Amtsgebiet Löbenau" - existed until 1945 and became the district of Pillkallen (from 1939: "Landkreis Schloßberg (Ostpr.)") In the Gumbinnen administrative district of the Prussian Province of East Prussia belonged.

In 1910 there were 171 inhabitants in the Löbegallen manor . After the conversion of the Löbegallen manor into a rural community of the same name in 1928 , the village had 211 inhabitants in 1933 and 188 in 1939.

For political-ideological reasons to avoid foreign-sounding place names, Löbegallen was renamed “Löbenau” on June 3rd - officially confirmed on July 16th - of the year 1938.

As a result of the war, the place came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia in 1945 . In 1947 it was renamed Tolstowo and at the same time the seat of a village soviet in Krasnosnamensk Raion . After its dissolution in 1965, the place came into the village soviet Chlebnikowski selski sovet . From 2008 to 2015 Tolstowo belonged to the rural municipality of Wesnowskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Krasnosnamensk.
