Wörde is a district of Gummersbach in the Oberbergischer Kreis in southern North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .

Location and description

Wörde is located in the northeast of Gummersbach on the border with Bergneustadt in the valley of a short tributary of the Rengse brook .

history

The place was mentioned for the first time in 1542. "Toennes and other residents in the Woerde are mentioned in the Turkish tax lists ." The spelling of the first mention is "in the Woerde".

In 1972 the BTV Wuppertal received the building permit for a leisure home in the village, the construction of which was started in 1974. The house was officially inaugurated on September 17, 1977. Since then it has been used by athletes from BTV Wuppertal and TV Friesen Wuppertal as a place to relax, preferably during the holidays. The leisure home is also rented out to non-members of the BTV Wuppertal.
