Birnbaum is a district of Gummersbach in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia .


Birnbaum is located on the western city limits of Gummersbach. Neighboring places are Apfelbaum and Rodt . Birnbaum lies on a ridge on the south side of the Gelpe valley, which flows into the Leppe . The place is about 6.4 km from the city center.
