Węgorapa ( German Forsthaus Angerapp ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the rural community of Banie Mazurskie (Benkheim) in the powiat Gołdapski ( Goldap district ).
Geographical location
Węgorapa is located on the northeastern edge of the Skallischer Forest (1938 to 1945 Altheider Forest, Polish Lasy Skaliskie ) in the northeast of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It is 13 kilometers to the north to the former district town of Darkehmen (1938 to 1945, Angerapp, in Russian Osjorsk ), which is now on Russian territory . Today's district metropolis Gołdap (Goldap) is 20 kilometers to the east.
history
The forester Angerapp was until 1929 a dwelling place in Forstgutsbezirk Oberförsterei Skallischen (1938-1945 Altheide, Polish Skalisze ). This belonged to the Darkehmen district (1939 to 1945 "Landkreis Angerapp") in the administrative district of Gumbinnen in the Prussian province of East Prussia . From September 30, 1929, the forestry department was incorporated into the Skallischen forest estate district, Darkehmen / Angerapp portion.
In 1945, the small town in the consequences of war was with the whole southern East Prussia to Poland transferred and received initially the name "Wegorapa Lesnictwo". Today it is a forest settlement within the rural community of Banie Mazurskie in the powiat Gołdapski , until 1998 of the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then it has belonged to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Before 1945, the forester's house in Angerapp was oriented towards both the Protestant church in Szabienen / Schabienen (1938 to 1945 Lautersee, Polish Żabin) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and towards the Catholic parish in Goldap in the Diocese of Warmia . Today the few inhabitants of Węgorapa belong to the Catholic parish Żabin in the Decakant Gołdap in the Diocese of Ełk (Lyck) of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland and to the Evangelical Church in Gołdap , a branch church of Suwałki in the Masurian Diocese of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .

Węgorapa is a bit out of the way and can only be reached by land, which branches off the side road Banie Mazurskie - Żabin in an easterly direction. There is no train connection.
