Bezdružice (German Weseritz ) is a town with 951 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) in Okres Tachov in the Czech Republic .
Geographical location
The small town is located in western Bohemia , three kilometers north of Konstantinovy Lázně ( Konstantinsbad ). To the east lies the valley of the Úterský potok ( Neumarkter Bach ). To the south are the spa town of Konstantinsbad and the extensive castle ruins Schwannberg (also Schwamberg ), to the north-east is the town of Úterý ( Neumarkt ).
history
The first mention of Weseritz comes from the year 1227. The small town was in the settlement area of the Choden and was owned by the noble families von Kolowrat , Schwanberg and Lewnberg. The Bohemian scholar and humanist Christoph Harant Freiherr von Polschitz and Weseritz worked in Weseritz .
In 1901 the city received a railway connection through the Neuhof – Weseritz local railway.
After the First World War , Weseritz became part of the newly created Czechoslovakia in 1919 . Due to the Munich Agreement , the city came to the German Reich in 1938 and until 1945 belonged to the district of Tepl , administrative district of Eger , in the Reichsgau Sudetenland .
After the Second World War , most of the German-speaking residents were expropriated and expelled by the Beneš decrees . As a result of the enormous loss of population, Bezdružice lost its town charter .
Bezdružice has been a town again since October 2006.
