The Winterbach tent spectacle is a multi-day music festival with national and international artists in Winterbach that has been taking place since 1995. The festival is visited by tens of thousands of visitors each time it is held. The organizer is the association Kulturinitiative Rock - Winterbach e. V.

history

The first tent spectacle in Winterbach took place in 1995. In the following years the festival was repeated every two to four years; since 2007 it has been held regularly every two years. The festival has now been expanded from three days to eight days.

The record attendance was set in 2017 when 24,500 tickets were sold for eight events.

Various festival concerts were broadcast as recordings on the SWR radio program .

In addition to music acts, there are also cabaret events for some performances .

Festival site

The venue is a specially built circus tent on a meadow on the Rems , which belongs to the area of ​​the mail order company Peter Hahn . The first tent held 1,500 spectators in 1995, but the tent later held 3,500 people and in the tenth edition in 2017, 4,000 people. In addition to the tent, there is also an admission-free beer garden with 2500 seats on the festival site, where regional music acts are performed. Around 1000 volunteers are involved in the implementation of the festival.

The cultural initiative Rock - Winterbach e. V. was founded by some Winterbach rock and blues fans in order to be able to carry out music events in Winterbach. The first event took place on April 28, 1991 with a concert by the Steve Gibbons Band in the school gymnasium in Winterbach. Then on September 12, 1992, the founding party with the bands Smiling Faces and Hard Drivin 'Mama also took place in the school gym .

The ten-year anniversary was celebrated on July 22, 2001 with a blues parade, which led 39 bands through Winterbach to the festival area in front of 10,000 to 20,000 spectators.

In 2010, on July 16 and 17, the cultural initiative organized the Rock Summer Festival with The Brew , Joe Bonamassa, the Zeltinger Band and the Nina Hagen Band .

On November 28, 2015, the association held the anniversary concert 30 years of Dr. Mablues and the Detail Horns , where Albie Donnelly and Grachmusikoff also performed.

The cultural initiative is celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary in 2016 with concerts with Lee Ritenour , the Hamburg Blues Band feat. Maggie Bell , Mitch Ryder & Band, Mother's Finest, Hans Söllner and Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes .

Over the years, the association has held countless concerts in the school gymnasium (today Lehenbachhalle) and in the Salierhalle, including with Eric Burdon , Popa Chubby , Colosseum , Fish , Peter Frampton and Manfred Mann's Earth Band.

A total of 500,000 spectators attended the club's events.

The association consists of around 520 members. 1st chairman is Steffen Clauss.
