Wladislav Evgenjewitsch Namestnikow ( Russian Владислав Евгеньевич Наместников ; English transcription: Vladislav Yevgenievich Namestnikov ; born November 22, 1992 in Woskressensk ) is a Russian ice hockey player . Since February 2020 he has been under contract with the Colorado Avalanche from the National Hockey League .
Career
youth
Namestnikow began his career at Chimik Woskressensk , where he came to appearances for the first time for their professional team in the second-rate Wysschaya League in the 2009/10 season . At the CHL Import Draft 2010 he was selected in the first round in 20th position by the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The player decided to move to North America and was subsequently used in all 68 games of the Knights in the 2010/11 OHL season ; he got 30 goals and a total of 68 points scorer . In the Entry Draft 2011 of the National Hockey League (NHL) Wladislaw Namestnikow was selected in the first round as the 27th player of the Tampa Bay Lightning . At the same time, Namestnikow was selected by Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the 2011 KHL Junior Draft ; the team for which his father Yevgeny Namestnikow was already active. Vladislav said he didn't care about the choice of torpedoes and that he would not return to Russia.
Following the draft, the center took part in the pre-season of the Lightning, but was not nominated for the NHL squad and sent back to the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League for further development. In the Knights, Namestnikow was able to build on his points quota from the previous season and achieve 71 scorer points in 63 completed games in the 2011/12 OHL season . In the 2012 OHL play-offs , he and his team won the final against the Niagara IceDogs and won the J. Ross Robertson Cup . In addition, the London Knights earned a participation in the Memorial Cup 2012 through their success in the OHL final .
NHL
In the following season Namestnikow had his first appearances as a professional for Tampa Bay's farm team Syracuse Crunch in the American Hockey League (AHL). In the AHL season 2012/13 he was used in 44 games for the Crunch and scored 21 points scorer. In the AHL play-offs 2013 Syracuse reached the final of the Calder Cup , but lost to the Grand Rapids Griffins . In February 2014 he made his debut in the top division of North America in the 4-2 win against the Detroit Red Wings and then played four more games for the Bolts . He was then transferred back to the Syracuse squad and ended the season in the AHL with 48 points from 56 games. He also took part in the AHL All-Star Game for the Eastern Conference team in January 2015.
In the preparation for the 2014/15 season , the attacker was able to recommend himself for the NHL squad and started the season with the Lightning. Although he was used on the right wing position, he was able to show his offensive potential at a higher level for the first time and scored his first goal in the shirt in the NHL in October 2015 in the game against the Canadiens de Montréal . From December 2014 to March 2015 Namestnikow was again used with Syracuse in the AHL before he was ordered back to Tampa Bay. In the play-offs he recorded only one scorer point in 12 games and lost with his team in the Stanley Cup final against the Chicago Blackhawks . In July 2015, he extended his contract with the Lightning for another year and is again an integral part of the Tampa Bay squad in the 2015/16 season . In the 5-4 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins in January 2016, the left-shot scored the first hat trick of his NHL career.
After almost six years in the organization of the Lightning, Namestnikow was handed over to the New York Rangers for the trade deadline in February 2018 . With him, New York received the young players Libor Hájek and Brett Howden , a first-round right to vote for the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, as well as another second-round right to vote. The latter should become one for the first round of drafts, provided the Lightning win the Stanley Cup in the next two years ; this did not happen subsequently. In return, Tampa received Ryan McDonagh and JT Miller .
Namestnikow was active in New York for almost a year and a half before he was handed over to the Ottawa Senators by the Rangers in October 2019 . For this, Nick Ebert and a four-round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 2021 switched to the Broadway Blueshirts . The Russian only played for just under six months before he switched to the Colorado Avalanche for the trade deadline in February 2020, again in exchange for a four-round vote in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft .
International
Vladislav Namestnikow represented his home country with the Russian national team for the first time at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2009 and finished fifth with his team. The next international assignment he had at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2009 , in which the Russians placed seventh. The 2010 Ice Hockey World Championship for U18 juniors ended Namestnikow with the Russian selection in fourth place and again missed the medal ranks.
In the senior sector, he made his debut for Russia at the World Cup of Hockey 2016 and took fourth place with the team.
