Yamaha XJ

The XJ model series are motorcycle models from the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha in the sports touring or naked bike category . This model series is widespread due to its sporty and above all its touring properties, its good suitability for everyday use and its low cost of purchase and maintenance. The XJ range was discontinued in 2004. In 2009 she was revived with the XJ6 Diversion .

General

The concept of the XJ model range has been retained over the years, even if the appearance and engine designs have changed. 500, 550, 600, 650, 750 and 900 cm 3 displacement variants were produced.

Basically, it was always a four-cylinder four-stroke engine, which differ in the secondary drive (cardan / chain). (Abbreviations: N = naked bike, HS = half shell, VVK = full fairing)

1980-1992

The first model generation with the vertical cylinder bank was introduced in 1980 with the XJ650 and gradually expanded with various sister models:

1992-2004

From 1992, the first generation was replaced by a completely redesigned model series, the Diversion series, with the cylinder bank inclined forwards.

The 600 series was built in several power variants (34, 50 and 61 hp), the 900 series had 92 hp (68 kW) until 1994 and 89 hp (66 kW) from 1994.
