history
Uttenweiler is first mentioned in a document in 1173 . The name is said to go back to the Blessed Uta , who is said to have died here in 772. Uttenweiler soon came under Austrian suzerainty. The local lord at the time, Berthold vom Stain , donated an Augustinian monastery to the community in 1449 . As a result of the Reichsdeputation Hauptschluss , Uttenweiler came to the Princes of Thurn and Taxis in 1803 , but fell to the Kingdom of Württemberg in 1806 . There it was assigned to the Oberamt Riedlingen and in 1938 to the district of Saulgau . The district reform of 1973 led to the affiliation to the district of Biberach .
