Aubachtal is a district of Greiz in the Greiz district in Thuringia .
location
The district of Aubachtal is located east of the city center in the valley of the Aubach . Since the place was never a separate municipality, the exact extent is unclear. Aubachtal lies mainly on the Irchwitz district, but also on Pohlitzer and Raasdorfer Flur. Depending on the delimitation, smaller areas are also in the area of Greiz and Schönfeld .
history
The district was first mentioned in a document in 1827. Until the second half of the 19th century, the area was hardly built on; The Hirschmühle is considered the oldest property . The Chausseehaus from 1858 at the fork in the streets to Reichenbach and Werdau is also one of the oldest buildings. Originally built to collect road tolls, it served as a police station from the First World War until the second half of the 20th century, most recently as a nurses' station, and has been empty since the 1990s.
From 1875 the development of the valley with industrial plants and houses began. A school was established in 1884 and the church was consecrated in 1897 .
In 1921/22, Aubachtal became a district of Greiz through the incorporation of the above-mentioned places.
The swimming pool was opened in 1924. With the construction of a swimming pool (early 1990s), ice rink (2000s) and sports hall (2015), the district became the focus of the sports and leisure facilities in the city of Greiz.
traffic
Street
Aubachtal is on the federal road 94 , which connects Greiz with Reichenbach, Lengenfeld and Rodewisch . From this the road branches off in the direction of Werdau.
In local public transport , Aubachtal is connected to the city center of Greiz every quarter of an hour with 4 PRG Greiz bus routes. These also connect the locality with Schönfeld, Irchwitz, Moschwitz and Pohlitz and beyond the city limits of Greiz with Elsterberg, Reichenbach, Zeulenroda and Triptis.
railroad
From 1865 to 1997 the Neumark – Greiz railway ran through the town. The original Greiz terminus was renamed Greiz Oberer Bahnhof with the opening of the Elstertalbahn in 1875 , closed in 1879 and reopened in 1886 under the name Greiz stop . In 1879 it was renamed Greiz-Aubachthal , and from 1911 the spelling Greiz Aubachthal was in effect . However, this station was not in Aubachtal, but further into town.
