The New Town Moor II is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipality Wagenfeld in Diepholz .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG HA 057 is 375 hectares in size. It is almost completely part of the FFH area “Neustädter Moor” and the EU bird sanctuary “Diepholzer Moorniederung”.

The nature reserve is located northeast of Wagenfeld and south of Freistatt in the Diepholzer Moorniederung . It borders in the south on the nature reserve " Neustädter Moor ", in the north on the nature reserve " Neustädter Moor-Regenerationsgebiet " and in the west on the nature reserve " Wiesengebiet Neustädter Moor ". The four nature reserves form a contiguous protected area.

The "Neustädter Moor II" nature reserve was designated as the second of the four protected areas. It places part of a raised bog area under protection that has been changed by peat extraction. The peat extraction has meanwhile been stopped and the area renatured. The manual peat dig for self-sufficiency remains approved subject to conditions.

In the southeast, on the edge of the nature reserve, there is a publicly accessible 12-meter-high observation tower, which offers an overview of the moor landscape and can be used to observe birds in particular. In the area of the observation tower there are several hiking trails, some of which run along the edge of the nature reserve.

The nature reserve is drained in two directions, to the Wagenfelder Aue , which flows into the Hunte just above Barnstorf , and to the Große Aue , which flows into the Weser just above Nienburg .

The area has been under nature protection since August 7, 1980. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Diepholz.
